About
Our History
Our history begins in 1978, when Bill Wright created the “Grateful Disc Frisbee Club” a frisbee club that primarily focused on frisbee freestyling. A year later, Grateful Disc hosted the first ever national frisbee tournament in Fort Collins. Although Ultimate was not being played at the time, This club is still the same as our own Ultimate club today.
Years later, a legal dispute over our name with the band grateful dead lead to us needing to change the name. The members at the time settled on “Hibida” a word that still nobody quite knows the meaning of today.
Currently
Today, our club competes in the the south central division of College D1 club men’s ultimate. Hibida consists of an A team that regularly travels out of state for tournaments, and a developmental B team (“Bibida”) who competes at minimal closer tournaments. Together, our program has 2 teams, 6 coaches, and over 40 players.
We are a competitive program that is striving to be a nationals level team, although still making sure that fun and inclusivity is first and foremost.
